Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

We provide studio aprons. However:

Clay and glaze can stain clothing.

Clay shows more on dark fabrics.

Wear older, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.

Closed-toe shoes are higly recommended..

Avoid jewelry (we are not responsible for lost items).

Leave valuables at home or secured in your vehicle.

Can I reschedule?

Yes.

Because of limited space, we operate on a first-come, first-served waitlist and reservation system through our online app.

Cancel 24 hours before class → full refund.

Cancel less than 24 hours before class → partial refund (dependent on seat refill).

For multi-week classes, we expect attendance at all sessions. Missed time is not refundable, but we will work with you when life gets in the way.

Do I need experience?

No — for classes.

Yes — for membership.

Membership and open studio time are intended for those who already know pottery basics and can work independently.

If you are new, our beginner classes include guided open studio time so you can build confidence before transitioning into membership.

When do I get my pieces?

We use the Kiln-Fire app to notify you when your pieces are ready for pickup.

If you're visiting Drummond Island:

We can hold work for your next visit or

Ship via USPS (shipping rates apply).

Firing times vary depending on drying time, size, and weekly kiln schedule.

Is pottery messy?

Yes. We are essentially making elevated mud pies. That said, we enforce strict studio cleaning standards. Dust and perfume sensitivities are real concerns for many potters. All students, members, and staff are expected to clean thoroughly. Warnings and penalties apply when cleaning standards are not respected. Community health comes first.

Parking

Parking is currently a work in progress. Members are asked to park in marked areas away from the main entry to allow access for retail customers and to avoid blocking any Airbnb guests that reside above the studio.

Accessible parking can be arranged as needed.

Age Restrictions

We welcome ages 14+.

Students aged 14–16 are strongly encouraged to enroll in beginner or youth-focused classes unless experienced.

Occasionally, we plan to offer:

One-day youth workshop.

Children’s clay activities at the Farmers Market.

Cancellation Policy

24+ hours notice → full refund.

Less than 24 hours → partial refund (dependent on waitlist fill).

Our online system makes cancellation easy and transparent.
